Looking for a miracle

I'm not really in the mood to blog tonight, but I do want to ask for your prayers! I met with the pediatric surgeon, Dr. Rice, this afternoon and he said unless there is a dramatic improvement in Lawson's left lung by the end of this week, the only option will be surgery. We'll have a CT scan to check progress and proceed from there. Depending on how the lung looks, Lawson will either need a left pneumonectomy (complete removal of the lung) or best case scenario, removal of the damaged tissue. Unfortunately Dr. Rice doesn't seem to think there is any viable tissue left. He said that in his entire career he has never seen a baby with a lung this damaged. He has set aside time on Monday if need be. Please pray for a miracle!

  3. Dear Lord, please be with this wonderful family. We place Lawson in your loving and healing hands and ask that your will will bring him closer to joining his family at home. Be with Mitzi and Brian as they face the uncertain times ahead and grant them courage, peace, serenity, and above all love, which was what brought us Lawson in the first place. We offer prayers of thanksgiving for the strength that Mitzi's mother has provided the family and for the support, both spoken and unspoken that her friends have given as well. In your name and for Lawson's sake we offer up this prayer. Amen

  18. Hi Mitzi,
I was forwarded your blog from a friend of mine who recognized your Ped. Surgeon's name- Dr. Rice as he was ours just a few weeks ago when he operated on our 7 week old son. We spent 6 nights in the hospital and your pictures of Lawson bring back so many recent feelings from our 2 nights in the PICU. I briefly read over your blog and am amazed at your strength! I will pray for Lawson and your family as well as all of the wonderful caregivers at Duke! Lawson is a special little boy and was given to you by Him for a reason. Stay strong and continue to trust in Him.
    Blessings,
